Exterior Condition Inspection Template

Walk a building's exterior, rate every element 1–5, and get an automatic summary and budget you can hand straight to the owner.

What's inside

  • 25 exterior elements across façade, roof, gutters and downpipes, solar and ground level
  • A 1–5 condition rating for each element, colour-coded red, amber and green
  • Columns for what you saw, photo references, action timeframe and indicative cost
  • A summary sheet that builds itself: average condition per area, items to act on now, and spend now and within 12 months
  • A worked example row and a how-to-use sheet

How to use it

  1. 1Fill in the building details at the top of the Inspection sheet.
  2. 2Walk the building and rate each element 1–5. Leave anything that doesn't apply blank.
  3. 3Add what you saw, a photo number, the action timeframe and a cost if you know it.
  4. 4Open the Summary sheet and share it with the owner.

How Drone Group helps

See every elevation without a ladder

Drone Group captures high-resolution and thermal imagery of façades and roofs, so you can inspect the whole exterior from your desk and track defects over time. If the inspection turns up staining or growth, we wash façades and roofs by drone too, with no scaffolding.

Questions

Who is this template for?

Facilities managers, property managers and building owners who want a consistent way to record the condition of a commercial building's exterior and explain priorities to an owner.

Does it replace a professional building survey?

No. It records visual observations to help you plan maintenance. Structural, weathertightness and compliance questions need the right specialist.

Can I use it every year?

Yes. Save a copy after each inspection and repeat it at the same time each year, so you can see which elements are getting worse.
